Ouachita parish sheriff deputies arrested 49 year old Jimmie Franklin Pate for suspected attempted murder of his wife Leola Pate 49. Leola remained in serious condition at Charity Hospital Monroe with head lacerations and heavy bleeding. The couple were en route to El Dorado to settle a car purchase when the incident occurred on a gravel road south of El Dorado north of Bernice and Junction City. Pate waived extradition and awaited transport to El Dorado. he had prior murder conviction in 1943 and nine years of Angola imprisonment.
