Monroe women from the Welcome and Monroe Garden clubs organize a October 1 tea at the Frances Hotel terrace to raise funds for beautifying the A A F navigation school grounds and support cadets. The event aims to unite residents, aid morale, and strengthen hospitality as new townspeople settle in.

WAACS Advance to Third Officers at WAAC Graduation
Fort Des Moines Iowa September 25 The Women's Army Auxiliary Corps will graduate 117 women to third officer rank in the WAACs third commencement ceremony. Total officer graduates since July 20 reach 799. An all WAAC band will debut replacing the men’s post band. Address by Mrs Herman Bakker introduced by Oveta Culp Hobby lists graduates including Margaret Baldwin Winona Skinner Nona Stokes and Margaret Riley from Alabama Mississippi and districts named.
