Oklahoma legislators move to impeach Governor J C Walton as his allies rally to defend him. The plan includes potential charges and a session set to begin Wednesday. Walton vows a fight to the finish and claims to stand against an “invisible empire” led by the Ku Klux Klan.
At a Monroe Chamber of Commerce meeting business leaders agreed to devote advertising space this week to present the U S Constitution. A full-page ad will publish the Constitution in the Monroe News-Star on the fifth page funded by city advertisers to promote the document’s principles. Citizens urged to study and keep a copy for reference.
A Spanish villa for Mrs. Edgar Florsheim will be built on North Third Street at Erin Avenue in Monroe. Drago and King designed the plan featuring a 300 by 128 foot lot, 78 by 51 foot frontage and depth with an interior patio and wrought iron borders. The Spanish siueco residence will have four bedrooms two baths large living and dining rooms vaulted ceiling decorative plaques and ornate columns.
The Jefferson county grand jury heard A L Boyd president of the board of convict supervisors describe a convict mutiny at Banner Mines on September 10. Details were not released and witnesses refused comment after testifying about harsh work conditions, rocks in coal seams, inadequate medical care, and insufficient food.
Washington reports three Bureau of Standards experts died and six were injured in a laboratory explosion. The group had just completed evaporation experiments expected to save about 500 million gallons of gasoline yearly. L. L. Lauer of New Salem Ohio A J Cook of Cincinnati and S M Lee of New London Conn died.
