Mount Etna eruption spurs prayers as lava flows widen

Iron Mountain Inspectors Tour Lake Charles to Monroe Line
Superintendent Richey and General Superintendent M. M. of Iron Mountain completed an inspection of the Lake Charles to Monroe line. They met Trainmaster Taylor in Lake Charles and saw lumber shipments from J. A. Bell Lumber Co. Twenty five cars were delivered for through shipment. The towage train was assembled with business car No. 21. Richey and Taylor traveled from Lake Charles to Alexandria in the afternoon.

Negro Woman Is Shot Dead In Lammyville
In Ouachita parish a 21 year old man Hender son Brown shot Alice DeGraffentied a negro girl about his age near Lammyville. Four bullets pierced the woman’s chest at close range and Brown surrendered to Sheriff Parker and Deputy Sheriff Grant. An inquest was held and the grand jury will take up the case at the October term.
