Sterlington Power Plant Expansion Likely Soon
Louisiana Power and Light plans to expand its Sterlington plant, largest of its kind south of St. Louis and west of the Mississippi, by adding one or two units as demand nears the current output of 12,000 horsepower. The decision is expected shortly, after Harvey C. Couch confirmed that expansion is needed to meet rising power use in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi.

The coroner ruled Jones died from gunshot wounds. A special court session was called for September 21 to hear the case as lawyers from Arcadia offer to defend Williams. Both Williams and Jones are described as wealthy farmers with families. Williams and his wife have a son who was bound for Louisiana State University.
