FBI Probes Dinynamiting At Nashville

FBI agents moved to investigate the dynamiting of an integrated school and provided a potential witness to local authorities. Davidson county grand jury indicted segregationist John Kasper for inciting a riot, claiming he spurred hundreds to riot. The case occurs under a U.S. district court injunction against further interference with integration.

Dynamite Found Tied to Kasper Plot, Reed Testimony

A man handed to city police by the FBI said he and segregationist John Kasper hid dynamite three days before an explosion at Hattie Cotton School in Nashville. Police reported Charles Reed told them Kasper came to his home with dynamite on a Saturday and the pair hid it in a vacant house, from which it later vanished. Reed claimed he did not know its fate.

Tennessee Schools Reopen Amid Integration Tensions

In Nashville and surrounding districts, eleven Negro students attend classes as integration resumes. A sixth school halted transfers over improper papers and a seventh was damaged by dynamite last Tuesday. FBI involvement follows the Hallie Cotton blast as police question a man from Memphis. Monroe Plans Appointing City Planning Panel

City Council will appoint a planning commission on September 24 under Mayor W L Howard. An ordinance creating the panel will be adopted, and members named. The commission will review the detailed Twin Cities expressway report, consult with the highway department, and hold a public hearing before sending results to the Bureau of Public Roads.

Negro youth convicted for bottle-throwing in Birmingham

Frank Coach, 16, was found guilty by the Recorders Court of tossing a soft drink bottle at a car and received the maximum six months in jail and a $100 fine. He was among 76 Negro boys and girls removed from a chartered school bus after complaints of throwing rocks at white persons.

In New York the United Nations General Assembly condemned Soviet actions in Hungary by a 60 to 10 vote and approved a resolution demanding the USSR end repression and withdraw forces. A guard found two state penitentiary convicts hacked to death in their beds at Angola Prison. Wounded Man Admits Trying To Take Life

Wounded Robert Sealy of Mississippi Power Co admits shooting himself in the left side with a .22 rifle due to financial worries. He crawled from a swamp near Leakesville after two days missing. his rifle was thrown into a stream and found later. He told officers he could remember little of the event. hospital reports say his condition is good. Over 200 officers and volunteers searched the swamp without success before his recovery.
