Mrs. Sidney Stewart in charge says the Calhoun fair will be of high order despite food concerns and holding uncertainties. Dates tentatively set for October 18 to 21, buildings will be renovated, poultry show gets first class space, and many premiums, including a printer premium, will be awarded.
Elbert Vetro leum Company No 1 drill near Ola has reached 1 560 feet. A core barrel is run today to find pay sand as terrain stands 146 feet high, 74 feet above Urania wells. A. E. Hudson reports strong prospect with expected pay within 45 hours.
Tracy P. Long and running mate Dr Cyr spoke at 4 pm in the Olfa Standard school auditorium. O K Allen of Winnfield endorsed Huey Long’s platform and gave a defiant pledge. Long pledged free school books, road building, and trimming officeholders while attacking the political ring. Local supporters of Simpson Wilson and Long attended.
New Orleans Sept 14 Emile Cazaubon district attorney of St sh offered his services to the district attorney’s office in the Villemot slaying case. Villemot died after injuries from a truck collision Sunday night. Cazaubon is held on murder charges in the LeBouef case, while a prior trial produced a death sentence for Ada Bonner LeBouef and Dr. Dreher.
