The Baxter Bayou Home Demonstration Club held its first meeting of the year at Mrs. H. L. Van Valkenburgh’s home in Lake Providence on Friday September 6 with co hostess Mrs. Ethel Driver. New president Mrs. W P Key presided and members recited the club pledge and joined in prayer. Eloise Edwards associate agent read a note from the Pecan Growers Association and announced the North Louisiana Cotton Festival in Bastrop on September 25 with a sewing contest. Also noted were the Tallulah Fair October 14 19 and the National Home Demonstration Convention October 20 24 in Little Rock Arkansas. The program featured housing letters dieting beef buying serving and cooking and fashion trends for 1963 with slides shown by Mrs Edwards.
