Bastrop, Sept. 13 Special Booster Burks, a Black man, was arrested by Morehouse parish sheriff's office for the alleged murder of his wife over the weekend. Burks reportedly shot himself after the slaying. Sheriff Robert Harp was handling another case this morning, delaying full details. An alarm had been issued in the Monroe area before his capture.
Pvt. James L. Brimmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Brimmer of Newellton Louisiana, arrived in Alaska for duty with the Army General Depot. He entered the Army in March and was last stationed at Fort Lee Virginia as units train and guard northern approaches to the United States.
