In New Orleans on September 12, Julian Caplino killed his common law wife Jennie Falletta with an axe. He fled, attempted suicide by river, and was found dead on railroad tracks identified by a lodger. Caplino had just been released from prison on a bootlegging charge. The 11 year old witness testified to the murder. The couple had been separated for six years and Falletta had divorced Louis Nunemacher.
