China Can Fight Five More Years Says Spokesman
Chungking China September 11 a government spokesman stated China has enough soldiers for five more years of war more than one million men mobilized since 1936 under the conscription law and an equal number volunteered the law first enforced in 1936 after 1933 promulgation. Passenger miles on scheduled planes in 1941 reached 1 492 000 000 a 30 percent rise from 1940.

Colonel Rolleigh Visits in Monroe
Lieutenant Colonel Louis F. Rolleigh made a brief visit to his Monroe home before flying to Camp Stewart Georgia to command the 377th Separate Coast Artillery battalion Antiaircraft. He earlier served with the 204th regiment in San Diego and was transferred to Georgia. His family had spent the summer in Savannah and returned to St. John street for fall and winter.

Fire at Champlin Oil Refinery in Enid Oklahoma
Flames raged through the Champlin Oil Company refinery near Enid as oil overheated during transfer to a 12 000 barrel receiving tank. An explosion occurred and six gasoline tank cars ignited in sequence, with a 200 000 barrel storage tank burning while company crews fought the blaze.
