Crippled Plane Catches Fire In Landing
PALLAS UP I A two engined 46 transport plane with two men on board and crippled landing gear caught fire today while making an emergency landing at Love Field. Pilot Robert Gary of Ann Arbor Mich and co pilot Harvey J Fischer of Bellville Mich scrambled out as it stopped sliding. Four fire trucks put out the blaze in about five minutes. The plane owned by Zantop Air Transport Co of Inkster Mich carried Ford auto parts. Gary noticed the gear light remained off and circled for instructions before finally landing and engine fire erupted on the final pass two passes and about an hour after the first warning.

Ouachita parish police jury accepted the low bid of Brown and Blazier for the Anna Meyer Branch library at 87,680 dollars. Elbert Moore a 31 year old civil engineer from Baton Rouge said two youths he picked up near the Mississippi River shortly before midnight and who later rode with him to several bars assaulted him, robbed his wallet about four dollars and personal papers, and left him with numerous contusions and lacerations after which he was treated at Charity Hospital and released.

Robert Garfield Brown Jr. a former petty thief turned violent bandit was revealed by the FBI as one of its ten most wanted fugitives. At 41 he is tattooed and gray haired and has been on the run since July 9 after a Canadian couple was robbed on a Maine beach and the husband shot. Brown, born January 12, 1918 in Brookline Massachusetts, has prior prison terms for breaking and entering larceny and parole violation in New Hampshire and for car theft and burglary in Pennsylvania.
