Philadelphia authorities charge Gertrude Silver with conspiracy and accessory before the fact of an abortion that killed 22 year old heiress Doris Silver Ostreicher. Dist. Atty. Cash says she will answer in Central Police Court Monday after seclusion.
Huber Frederick Camell, 30, linked to a second murder after a neighbor reported a rifleman near Clyde Lewis's home. Camell confessed to Lewis's shooting and faces first degree murder charges. Police questioned the May death of Mrs. Lewis, whose heart attack claim was revised after a bullet was found.
The United States and Red China are reported at the point of final agreement on releasing Americans held behind the Bamboo Curtain. Twenty five Americans were in Chinese jails for years and three persons were under house arrest. Others’ statuses are uncertain. A Geneva statement may follow as U S Ambassador A Alexis Johnson and Chinese Ambassador Wang Ping nan meet tomorrow.
Buenos Aires AP reports Brig. Gen. Delmiro Felix Videla Balaguer head of Rio Cuarto garrison and four other high ranking officers held on conspiracy charges amid a reported plot to rebel against President Peron. An Epoca notice warned them to appear within three days or face being declared rebels.
In Sumner Mississippi two white men Roy Bryant and J W Milam face trial September 19 for the slaying of 14 year old Emmett Till of Chicago. A 125 man special jury panel will be drawn. Both men admit abducting Till but deny killing him. The case drew national attention and varied reactions from NAACP and other officials.
