Special to Monroe News-Star reports Jim Jones a Louisiana Central Lumber Co worker at Clarks escaped a hanging after a dispute with a white coworker. Jones fled to his home returned with a gun but was wounded and captured by Deputy J. J. Humble and jailed amid threats of a mob attempting to hang him.

Kornmann Dies at 64 in Monroe Home
William Kornmann aged 64 died at his Monroe residence after a long illness. Born in Biloxi Mississippi in 1857 he moved to Monroe twenty two years ago and ran a meat market before retiring. Survived by his children Misses Ula Rosalie Beatrice Della Kornmann Charles William Kornmann and others. Funeral at 416 Louisville and burial in Old City Cemetery with Rev. Wallace Clift officiating.
