Dawn Hurricane Veers Out to Sea Threatens Northeast Eases

Dawn the season's third hurricane stalled near 36.0N 73.2W about 150 miles northeast of Cape Hatteras. Winds dropped to 75 mph as forecasters said the storm would loop and move northeast to sea by Saturday, with small craft urged to stay in port from Cape Lookout to Cape Cod.

Israel strikes deep into Syria and Lebanon targets

The Israeli air force attacked seven bases in Syria and three in Lebanon a few hours after pledges of retaliation for the Munich massacre.
