Reported talks say a majority of railroads submitted a peace proposition to shopmen to be voted in Chicago. Officials and union leaders anticipate a move toward a general settlement with 52 Class One roads totaling about 85 000 miles, though comments were cautious and no details were disclosed.

London reports Dublin rumors that a doctor and two nurses were arrested in connection with Arthur Griffith’s death, but the Exchange Telegraph correspondent says such rumors have no foundation. A Dublin AP dispatch noted re circulated poisoning rumors from Griffith’s funeral period, yet physicians said Griffith died of natural causes likely heart disease.
