Struckrobber on Head During Hold-Up Near New Orleans

A lone bandit named Howd E Edwards robbed the New York Limited near Michaud twelve miles east of New Orleans. He was knocked unconscious by engineer John Baer and hospitalized in New Orleans and not expected to live. About $100 was taken from passengers and mail. Edwards aided police in locating possible accomplices while others fled into swamps.

Levee Moves West as Mississippi Shifts at Wyanoke

The Mississippi River widened its channel nine miles above Memphis at Wyanoke Ark forcing the levee board to shift the main levee west by a mile. Caving banks and a new sand bar on the river side flood farms and ruin crops across the district.

Train robber was very polite aboard the Mobile train

A train thief on a Mobile Alabama passenger train took only a small sum from travelers. He spared the women and refused jewelry, calling the haul meager and noting his polite demeanor while expressing dissatisfaction with the money collected.
