Negro pupils began desegregated attendance in all white Catholic elementary and high schools in New Orleans with about a dozen at St. Leo the Great and small numbers at St. Mary of the Angels and Mater Dolorosa. No incidents were reported. In Baton Rouge a 14-year-old Negro girl was denied entry to all white Baton Rouge High School despite a visit with NAACP officials. the principal cited lack of authority to enroll her.

In Buras Louisiana the desegregated Our Lady of Good Harbor Catholic school again saw no black students as 150 spectators watched. Twelve white children entered with two priests leading them, amid ongoing FBI threat investigations and protests insisting the school remain white.
