Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Grace Episcopal Church with Rev. W. Bradley Trimble, burial in Old City Cemetery under Hixson Bros. Funeral Home. Survivors include her daughter Dr. Hazel Mitchell, a foreign language instructor at Northeast Louisiana State College, sister Mrs. A. K. DeFrance of Shreveport, and half-brother Fred W. Burt of Monroe. The body will be at the funeral home until 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Italian Tanker Alberto Benati Adrift 180 Miles Off Hurricane Faith
The Italian tanker Alberto Benati, 656 feet, built 1960 from Palermo, sent an SOS at 7 a.m. as it took on water in heavy seas about 180 miles from the hurricane center and 500 miles east of Savannah. The Coast Guard dispatched two cutters and alerted nearby ships to assist. The Swedish freighter Kyoto joined within 40 miles, with six other vessels in the area. The master reported engine room water and the need for immediate help. Mendota and Chilwa cutters were summoned from Bermuda and Norfolk.
