Gustav VI Adolf was proclaimed king of the Swedes and Wends after the death of Gustaf V. The 92 year old king died yesterday ending a 43 year reign. Crown Prince Oscar Frederik Wilhelm Olaf Gustaf Adolf took the oath to uphold the constitution. Socialist Premier Tage Erlander read the oath in Stockholm with the cabinet and princes present.
Maurice Costello, 73, Hollywood matinee idol and father of actresses Dolores and Helene Costello, died of heart disease after a prolonged coma.
