Doris Refuses a Burglar Proposal at Grantwick
In The Tribune series, Doris, an orphan taken in by Mimi Winchell and others, rejects Bill’s offer of an “honest life” and a distant marriage proposal from Sir Adrian Shale as a scheme amid a blackmail plot at Grantwick Court. Mimi ponders control and a future divorce court, while Adrian contemplates remarriage seven months after his wife Beatrice’s death.
