Daniel A. Wedge, Civil War veteran and sole survivor of Aurora post 20 G A R, died on his 106th birthday after years bedridden from a 1930 hip injury. He was born October 26, 1841 in Marietta Ohio and moved to Illinois at age ten. He is survived by his daughter Mabel Wedge.

John J Jurkowski of Boston was jailed on felonious assault and breaking and entering, after chasing the attacker down two blocks and being knocked unconscious by a crowd. The assailant said he mistook Berger for waitress Phyllis Jane Swartz.
Convicted of taking part in a three day murder orgy at the Gusen concentration camp Wladislaus Dopierala a former SS corporal was sentenced by a U S war crimes court to be hanged. Witnesses said the victims included 400 Polish priests.
