Police uncovered two clues in the clubbing death of Miss Lily Dale Cray, 26, a school teacher. A taxi driver who took a man from the scene to a downtown hotel is being sought, with a reward totaling 2600 dollars.
John Wright of Montrose Arkansas, driving near the Morehouse parish line on the Lone Star highway at dusk, struck and killed a wild deer. Other motorists arrived, the deer was skinned and shared among the onlookers.
Lauderdale circuit court panel of 21 veniremen was examined as Judge Bourdeaux began the trial of Kinnie Wagner, the circus trick shooter accused of killing deputy sheriff Murdock McIntosh in 1924. Prosecutor Martin Miller questioned jurors on capital punishment views and death penalty likelihood. Several veniremen were excused for opposing capital punishment.
Somerville New Jersey braces for international attention as the Hall Mills murder trial nears. The town, population about 6000, buzzes with front page fever, hotel room shortages, and a corps of forty reporters stationed to cover the case of Frances Stevens Hall and her brothers charged in the 4 year old murders.
Sam E. Lyons a prominent Shreveport lumber man in critical condition after pistol wounds in a Monday office shooting with Dr. T. J. Fleming. Lyons issued an ante mortem statement to coroner Dr. Willis P. Butler detailing the case. Butler withheld contents. Fleming, free on $65 000 bond, cites self defense as he claims Lyons and F. M. Bates attacked him.
Pittsburgh dispatch reports Harry Greb former world middleweight champion had a death premonition weeks before his burial in Atlantic City. His brother in law J Elmer Edwards cited despondency and statements like if I live I may do it. Mrs Edwards confirms Greb wore a glass eye.
Eugene Meyer, chairman of President Coolidge's national cotton committee, heads to Dallas to help form a cotton finance corporation to store and move Texas cotton during the low price period. A similar Louisiana and South Mississippi project was discussed, aimed at 300000 bales, with bankers taking preparatory steps. A 25 percent cut in next year's cotton acreage is planned, redirecting unused land to other crops.
One trainman died and three others were seriously hurt when an Atlanta Birmingham and Atlantic westbound freight train wrecked near Pelham Alabama. Fireman Searcy was killed instantly. Engineer Jackson suffered fractures and other injuries and was hospitalized. Two brakemen were severely injured. Cause of the accident was not determined.

J H Weston Missouri Pacific agricultural agent says Ouachita section suits winter vegetables better than before. Carrots beets mustard spinach could succeed if planted January for April markets. Mrs Bertha Washauer and her daughter Dorothy died after leaping from the eleventh floor of the Martha Washington Hotel for Women in New York City. They used assumed names. a doctor’s card read Brother knows all about the money. A Toronto nurse, Miss Marjorie Laplante, witnessed the crash and tried to intervene. Both women had recent mental health treatments.
A youth, said to be 17 or 18 and who escaped from Pine Bluff Industrial Training School, spent lavishly in Monroe. He registered under an assumed name, wrote checks, deposited drafts totaling 295750 and 1000, cashed 10, borrowed 12 from a taxi driver, and was later returned to Pine Bluff by his father, a Fort Smith businessman.
