The jury unanimously found Mayor Apgar not guilty after five minutes deliberation. Defense lawyers argued lack of evidence of forgery, noting questions over a note signed by Guy P Stubbs and paid by Col Stubbs. The proceedings tied to the Central Immigration & Law Company and internal finance dealings, with supporters blaming political effort to embarrass his administration.
Washington officials refused to disclose exact details behind Secretary Baker's late night statement claiming a Mexican bandit plot aimed to harm American troops on the border. In Marshall Texas on February 3 1915 bank official John Copeland testified he fired only at Clarence F Hall during the confrontation with anti Catholic lecturer William Black and that he did not know who killed Black. Former Gov Jared Y Sanders prepares a statement to file with Secretary McAdoo defending his refusal to resign as naval officer. The filing argues Sanders is not pursuing a political campaign and that his November 7 Congressional election in the Sixth district will be a mere formality.
Radio dispatches from field headquarters report thirty five cowboys from the Santa Ana ranch near Bab icora defeated a detachment of Villa followers three miles from San Geronimo. Casualties are unreported. The cowboys captured two bandit officers and two privates.

The body of a young girl found floating Tuesday in the Mississippi River near Lobdell West Baton Rouge parish was identified Thursday as Miss Marie Corinne Lieux of Hermitage seven miles above Lobdell. Death is believed accidental or a personal crisis. family says foul play is not involved.
A Hermitage woman slipped and fell while walking the river bluffs amid levee excavations, breaking her neck. Her father Breaux Lieux, a well known farmer, reported the incident. The body was later disinterred and sent to New Orleans for burial.

A sheriff's posse and armed citizens pressed on in Birmingham on October 27 for a Black man who yesterday confronted a white woman in her Woodlawn home. The woman urged authorities to bring the suspect to her so she could harm him if posse members fail.

Russian and Roumanian forces faced heavy pressure from Mackensen’s troops in Dobrudja with retreats toward the Danube. Petrograd claims Russian gains on the Moldavian frontier and in Transylvania, including Balan and Piatrarotkut heights, as battles rage along the Jail river.
A head on crash at 6 30 this morning on Jackson street and Halls Alley between Riverside car 15 and Lee Avenue car 21 left motorman C L Britton dead after arrival at St Francis Sanitarium. Motorman FP K Guinn was bruised by glass. Conductor A B Carroll and W N Brock uninjured. Britton, 27, came from Ruston six to seven months ago. survived by wife and three children.
