He will speak to the crowd via long distance telephone from Albany after visiting Democratic headquarters. Veterans Want Soldier Bonus Paid Urges Pension for Widows and Orphans
The Veterans of Foreign Wars urged immediate cash payment of the soldiers bonus and pensions for widows and orphans of World War veterans. At the 33rd national encampment in Sacramento, the group also backed strict civil service enforcement for veterans and improved rehabilitation. Admiral Robert E. Planter Held After Killing Tenant Farmer in Arkansas Quarrel

Core at a plantation cotton gin near England during a dispute over a crop settlement. Deportee Cox Charged With Mail Fraud in Texas

Former convict admits slaying his befriender
An ex convict named John Downing 44 confessed to killing Mrs. Daniel J Bonzo 44 wife of the Ohio penitentiary chief records clerk. He had befriended her and said shes been like a mother to me. The body was found in the basement of her Columbus home after her son Daniel Jr returned from school.

Greenwood businessman shoots jeweler in street quarrel
In Greenwood Mississippi H G Kitchell 63 a prominent merchant shot and killed George W Littlefield 64 a jeweler after a brief exchange of gunfire. Kitchell surrendered at the police station with a slight wound to the left hand and powder burns on the wrist. The motive remains undetermined.

An 87 year old former operator Henry H. James and his daughter Sarah ended a three day voluntary siege of the Franklin hotel after guests were ordered out. Moonshine Crash Drowns Two Men in Tennessee River
In Elizabethton Tennessee a roadster loaded with about 45 gallons of moonshine plunged into the Watauga river near Fish Springs. The two occupants Paul Preacher Glover 32 and Paul Foster 30 were found pinned under the car in shallow water with kegs and jars of liquor nearby. The vehicle swerved after sideswiping a bridge and overturned into the stream.
