Monroe Man Wins Big Oil Rights Suit in Supreme Court
The Supreme Court in Washington declined to hear the appeal of Abe Arent of Monroe in the suit over oil and natural gas rights on about 609 acres in the Monroe gas fields. Arent had previously been awarded mineral rights on 600 acres after a long series of court actions and appeals. The decision leaves in effect substantial property rights tied to the Leils Plantation and adjoining lands, with substantial value in normal times.
