Bewilderment and shock sweep the Nebraska town of Gresham after its sole bank appears broke. Bank losses could wipe out capital and bond funds as residents, many elderly, face emptied life savings and local businesses strain to pay employees. Arthur Walford, a long time bank officer, killed himself as state examiners arrived.

Tryouts for the Monroe Little Theatre second production are tonight and Thursday at 7 30 p m in the Strauss Play house Lamy Lane. Leroy Holt aged 59 of Riverton Utah died early today after the Fullmer vs Tiger bout at Candlestick Park. Holt collapsed and was carried from the park. a Franklin Hospital spokesman would only say he died at 4 15 am EST. His son in law is Gene Fullmer the dethroned middle weight champion.
New Delhi India AP report says Chinese Communists push into northeast India at four points. Troops reach 10 to 12 miles from Towang monastery town. attacks reported at Asfila and along the Luhit River Valley near Burma. a post in Changchenmo River valley seized in Ladakh. India rejects Peiping peace talks on Chinese terms.
The Defense Department published 14 aerial photos showing Soviet missile sites bomber fields and patrol boats in Cuba. Some images had been shown in London before public release. The shots include merchant ships bound for Cuba carrying light jet bombers in crates and a high altitude view of a major air field.
The Louisiana Department of Highways awarded Bentz and Elmore Inc of Monroe a 63186 contract for major reconstruction of over four miles of Monroe streets. Total Ouachita Parish highway work totals 42 miles and 16070000 dollars, with I 20 construction and right of way purchases pushing past 85 million. Construction began October 22 and runs through August 1963, with W R Overton of Monroe named Project Engineer.
Monroe Fire Department warns residents to refrain from burning leaves and rubbish within city limits as it violates the fire code. Fire prevention chief C. W. Flacy notes reports of leaf burning and says city crews remove leaves piled on neutral ground and take them to the city dump.

Plans were reportedly underway for a full scale invasion to remove missiles and ensure U N supervision.
President Kennedy signed a bill providing $20,000 damage awards to three USO entertainers injured in a Lisbon area plane crash almost two decades ago. Jane Froman Gypsy Markoff and Jean Rosen receive the payments as part of 44 measures enacted Tuesday night.
