The League of Nations council voted 13 to 1 to demand Japan pull troops from the Manchurian railway zone by November 16. the Japanese representative opposed. Briand urged goodwill and swift compliance after the roll call vote.
Jesse Levi 28 sought as a participant in the Irving Trust Company robbery in Brooklyn N Y was arrested by deputies at his aunt's home in Twin Isles near Bradenton Florida. Officers found 5 1 percent in a paper bag in a trunk of his luxury car along with three revolvers including one matching a serial number taken from a man named Koppel. Deputies Clint Hughes and D R Brown surprised Levi as he slept and took him into custody without incident.
Murray Saltzman asks New Orleans police to locate his fiancée Miss Louise Hunter 22 of New York who vanished after allegedly learning troubling stories about him. A postcard to family and hotel records show she stayed in the city October 15 16 17 and left without a forwarding address.

Fred Lamprecht of New Orleans led professionals with a 74 after 18 holes in the Kraft Paper Open at Morehouse Country Club Bastrop. Johnny Camet of El Dorado was second at 75, with Robbie Mair and Winifred Cole tied for third at 76. second 18 holes to be played this afternoon. L. L. Vann won amateur medalist honors as about 50 amateurs competed from several towns.
Superintendents and principals from Monroe City and Ouachita Parish educational institutions motored to Ruston for an annual meeting of Northeast Louisiana secondary school officials. Attendees from Monroe included T. O. Brown E L Neville and others. The session, held in the Louisiana Tech auditorium, covered educational business with lunch served at noon.

Police hunt a red haired youth in Pensacola for possible information about the slaying of Arthur Hinote and Bernice Briars on a lonely road near the city. The couple, found shot and beaten after leaving a filling station, had been followed by a second car. A coroner’s jury may order further inquiry into the deaths.
In Wallhalla South Carolina Mayor Robert Ballentine said he would stand for reelection when a man attacked him late at night slashing his neck and shoulder with a razor. The mayor reported the assault occurred twelve hours after his election plans were announced. injuries are not serious.
Houston bankers of the Clearing House Association pledged to hold 90 000 bales of cotton in line with southern bankers plan, announced by President Sam Lawder on October 23.
Four convicts escaped from a New Jersey state prison as two men fled north in cars while two others were cornered near Oxford Valley Pennsylvania. Police officer Joseph Campbell died after being wounded in the gun battle. James McGrath and Jack Wierman were killed. At large are Frank Seibert and James Stoddard.
In Knoxville on October 24, Frank M. Dyer, 48, a farmer, killed his two sons Thomas 13 and Raymond 10 with an axe while they slept, then fatally wounded himself with a pocket knife. The boys were taken to a hospital with fractured skulls. doctors say they have little hope. The father is in serious condition.
Winnie Ruth Judd 26 year old wife and minister's daughter surrendered in Los Angeles to face murder charges in the deaths of Hedvig Samuelson and Agnes Le Roi. She says she shot them to protect herself due to a bullet wound and fears of lockjaw after surgery at Georgia Street Hospital.
Ralph A. Metz, member of the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board, announced today his bid for register of the state land office. Previously announced candidates include Miss Lucille May Grace, the incumbent, and R. Clem Lafleur of Eunice.
Chicago federal court formally sentenced Al Capone to 11 years in prison and a $50,000 fine for income tax evasion. Capone denied bond and remained in custody as attorneys prepared an appeal to the U S Circuit Court. Capone and business manager Jack Guzik faced parallel terms on felony and misdemeanor counts with possible credit for time served.
65 candidates qualified for the Democratic ticket for the January 19 primary. The Monroe Morning World published 50 names while 15 remained unavailable. Two major offices will be unopposed: Joe M. Hanna for parish tax assessor and W. M. Harper for city judge.
