In Houma Terrebone Parish a crowd estimated at 2500 heard John T. Michel of New Orleans press his gubernatorial bid. Barret and other candidates spoke briefly. Michel supporters filled the yard around the Terrebonne Courthouse as he urged votes and framed attacks on opponents’ records.
New Orleans October 24 Judge T J Freeman president of the International and Great Northern Railway urges farmers to improve marketing systems arguing speculators have little effect on cotton prices. He backs Gov Colquitt and attends a conference October 30 at St Charles Hotel to discuss farmer interests. Freeman notes wagon markets in Taylor Waco Waxahachie and the impact on prices while dismissing speculators as minor factors.
Fair conditions continue tonight and into Wednesday with rising temperatures. No snowfall or rain is expected as high and low temperatures trend warmer across the period.

The fourth annual Fair opened at 10 o clock amid ideal weather. Eight River side cars ferried crowds to the grounds as exhibits across departments were ready. A parade themed Events in American History drew a massive audience before races and Carl Mourfield aeroplane flights. The ladies building showcased premier fancy work, hand painted china, cut flowers, and curios while school displays and preserved foods tempted visitors. Agricultural displays highlighted hill farm potential with sugar cane and crops. Live stock featured blue blood hogs cows sheep goats and horses in profusion.
