Carl Walter Higgins 31 was fatally shot while tending cattle on his Oak Grove area farm near Holly Ridge. While crossing a fence the shotgun discharged tearing away part of his head. He died two hours after being taken to a Delhi clinic. Funeral held at Union Baptist Church with Rev. W. A. Darman officiating. Interment in church cemetery. Survived by wife two sons Lawrence and Charles Higgins a daughter Mary Alice Higgins two brothers Henry Higgins Fred Higgins a sister Miss Willie Higgins and his parents Mr and Mrs Bill Higgins.
