Ben Bernie 52 a famed band leader and radio star dies at his Beverly Hills apartment after a long illness from pulmonary disease and heart complications. His wife son Private Jason Bernie and brother manager Herman Bernie were with him. He was divorced from Rose in 1935 and later married Dorothy Westley.
Two light bomber crashes at Lake Charles Army Air Field leave three dead. First Lieutenant John W. White and Corporal David S. Eckert die from crash one after instant and post hospital injuries. The second crash kills Lieutenant Herman O. Janene with Lois A. Jones surviving.
