Five youths killed in auto train wreck near Linden Alabama
Five youths died when their speeding car slammed into a moving freight train near Linden, Alabama, and was hurled against a small station building. The driver, M C Robinson, 16, and four others aged 14 to 17 perished, with a 17-year-old survivor in critical condition at a Demopolis hospital. The car skidded 258 feet before impact. Linden lies about nine miles west of Montgomery.

Arson Murder Feared By Fire Chief
Three University of Idaho students died in an early morning dormitory fire in Gault Hall. Fire Chief Carl Smith said it appeared arson and university officials launched an intensive investigation.
