Lawrence Nearman, an Illinois Central clerk, was arrested as an accomplice of B. A. Bowen in an attack on Illinois Central clerks Mr. and Mrs. James Thomas. Mrs. Thomas positively identified Nearman and Bowen, who was also arrested. In Algiers, Southern Pacific strikers report twelve non union workers walked out with two more leaders planning to quit tomorrow.

Atlanta jurors held out, then on counsel advice George Quarles accepted ten years for voluntary manslaughter in the August 5 killing of John Mitchell in Mitchell's home. The case ended after a night of jury deliberation.
Governor J. Y. Sanders spoke to a large crowd at Pollock opening of the Grant Parish Fair. He urged good roads internal improvement and better parish education and resources. Grant parish stock and exhibits were shown, led by the ladies department, with roads completed to the fair grounds from Colfax to Pollock.
Michel gubernatorial candidate John T. Michel and lieutenant governor candidate T. C. Barret arrived in Houma from New Orleans to a warm reception. A brass band led a march to the hotel where supporters crowded for handclasps and expressions of Michel strength. They plan parish tours and a Sunday meeting, joined by Loys Charbonnet of New Orleans. Continued on Page Five.
