Coroner and Monroe Reach Amicable Settlement
Ouachita Parish Coroner Jay W. Cummins and the City of Monroe settled out of court over coroner service fees. The city will pay 2980 dollars covering April through August plus minimum fees under the latest state law, including 20 dollars per investigation 20 dollars per paper work and 100 dollars for an autopsy. Mayor W L Howard called the deal fair and just and said the matter is settled to the city’s satisfaction. Cummins declined comment.
