In Jackson Mississippi Republicans press Sen John Kennedy to state his views on integration and segregation before addressing the Young Democrats banquet. Kennedy a potential 1960 presidential candidate arrives by car for the event while Gov Coleman and Senators Eastland and Stennis plan to attend.
President Eisenhower named Arthur Larson to a White House post guiding counterpropaganda campaigns, including Soviet satellite outreach, while George V. Allen would replace him as US Information Agency chief. Change date not fixed though announced as forthcoming.
