Atlanta October 17 Surgeon General Leonard A Scheele warned 149 would be the worst polio year in recorded history predicting 40000 to 45000 total cases by year end, about half of 1948. Five injured as boat explodes at New Orleans dock
A four foot pleasure boat exploded at its dock in Chef Menteur, injuring five people, none seriously. Injured were P F J Kellett, 53. his wife Mrs Hughline Kellett, 34. Benjamin Kellett, 32.
