Albany reports the New York Governor Sulzer was formally removed from office by a 43 to 1 vote of the impeachment court after finding him not guilty on several articles. The panel’s divisions showed strong opposition among judges and senators, with critics citing the Ryan contribution and unfitness for office.
Albany October 17 governor William Sulzer was found guilty by the high court of impeachment on articles 1 2 and 4 and innocent on article 3 He will be removed from office but not disqualified for future office Lieutenant Governor Martin Glynn will become chief executive of the state with Robert H Wagner as lieutenant governor The votes show 39 18 on articles 1 and 2 43 14 on article 4 and 59 7 on article 6 The secret vote to remove was 45 14 and to not disqualify him unanimous Judges split on remaining articles
