Man Found Guilty in Rayville Slaying Awaits Sentence
Ben I. Andrews former justice of the peace and taxi driver was found guilty of manslaughter in the fatal shooting of Clarence Humphees in Rayville on Main Street last spring. He returns to Ouachita Parish Prison in Monroe to await sentencing by Judge Carey J. Ellis after a two hour verdict deliberation. The jury foreman reported the verdict at 11 35 p.m. with no agreement on a death penalty.

Newport Pennsylvania October 16 Police are checking dentists records to identify an 18 year old girl whose skeleton lay in a shallow woodland grave for nearly two years. A highway worker found the skeleton about 150 feet from a road near here with dirt leaves and brush. Sheriff Maynard Carmichael said lower teeth were found nearby and casts are being made for dentists. State police have no missing girl on record matching age weight and height.
