Sheriff Blake Williams reported a telegram from Deputy E. S. Jones en route from Florida with Walter A. Bealle of White Plains New York stating Bealle confessed to the murder of George Riola of Los Angeles California. The message said Bealle would arrive tonight and to notify Prosecuting Attorney Carl E. Bailey. Riola’s body with a crushed skull was found on a farm near here last month. Bealle was indicted for the murder and identification followed from a letter fragment.

Hayward Johnson a 37 year old Black man was executed by hanging at 1 52 pm in the Ouachita Parish Jail after his conviction for killing his wife in a rage over a government war bonus check.
