Mrs A L Smith returns from New Orleans and plans to join friends again. The piece notes numerous community and social movements, including associations with Memphis and Monroe groups, and visits by Catholic ladies touring a boys’ facility with a new auditorium, kitchen, and gardens.
School auditorium hosts Monday program by Monroe Dramatic Club with a sorrowful theme and a memorial note. Community groups meet weekly at Grace Church Guild and Study Club with varied schedules led by Mrs. Pred Morat, Mrs. Waddill, and others.
The First Baptist Church hosted a Friday supper in a cheerfully decorated interior. Mrs. Cor, Mr Wann, and Mr. Madison helped organize, with Reverend Vilpo delivering a short talk appreciated by those present. Notables attending included Luella Baler, Lucile Sanderford, Natie Butler, Audrey Blanchard, Lara Brown, and Mrs. Thomas Brown.
Harmony themed gathering featured large yellow dahlia bowls and black cat score cards for guests. Prizes included silver coin holders, a boudoir vanity, and a teakwood serving tray as guest trophy. A two course luncheon followed, served by the hostess with her mother and sister.
