James F. Walters, cashier of the First State Bank of Belcher near Shreveport, awoke to a masked intruder at 2:30 AM who demanded the bank be opened. Walters refused noting a time lock and out-thought the robber, who fled without plundering.
Malcolm Burns, arraigned in Shreveport on a mail manipulation charge related to oil promotions, pleaded guilty and was remanded for sentence by Judge Rufus F. Foster. He appeared with his wife and young child, appearing to be about sixty years old.

Judge R W McClendon of West Monroe announces candidacy to seek another term as magistrate in Ward Five Ouachita Parish. With 36 years in office he has handled numerous cases and built a long record of litigation administration locally. He is Ouachita born and reared, previously involved in cotton trading and farming, now devoting most time to magistrate duties.
The British government accepted Belgium’s proposal to refer its reparations plan to the interallied reparations commission as a basis for negotiations. Italy also agreed, with the commission to study the plan’s viability. The outline calls for at least fifty billion gold marks plus 82 billion in bonds, with further details yet to be discussed.
