Mrs. S. S. Hunter Dies in Shreveport at 85
The Monroe area mourns Mrs. S. S. Hunter 85 mother of Sam Hunter and Joe Hunter and two daughters Mrs. Mano Ross and Miss Octavia Hunter. She died Sunday in Shreveport with funeral set for Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Shreveport. Her husband was a major figure in local gas fields and real estate. he once led Monroe’s first gas company. The Hunter family is well known in Monroe and the Twin Cities.

A young West Monroe flier was pulled from a burning wreck after his plane clipped trees near a country church south of Jonesboro. W. H. Springfield, 22, sustained a cut face and burned legs and was treated at Jonesboro Hodge Clinic before returning home. Tragedy Claims Couple's Lives in Natchez Monroe Collision
William L. Sammons 34 formerly of Monroe and his wife died after a Friday night crash on the Winnsboro road near Bayou Lafourche. Sammons died in a Monroe hospital from fractures and injuries after Mrs. Sammons was killed on impact. Survivors include children Barbara Jean and Ronald Sammons, parents in Monroe, siblings, and Mrs Frances Sammons. The wife Leona Hinez Sammons is survived by her mother Elvira Hiner and siblings in Illinois and Michigan.
