Gov Theo G Bilbo signed the Roberts Sillers cotton acreage reduction bill to cut Mississippi cotton acreage by 30 percent next year. Seven Million Bales to Be Held Off Market for Year
New Orleans reports a plan to keep at least seven million bales of cotton out of the market for a year. Southern banks, the Federal Farm Board, and the American Cotton Cooperative Association back loans for 3.5 million bales and extend 2 million held by the cooperative to July 31, 1932. If acreage reductions occur, holdings may extend to 1933 with the Cotton Stabilization Corporation maintaining about 1.3 million bales, contingent on prices above 12.5 cents per pound.

Young Man Ends Life Before Wife and Parents in Arkansas
Erwin Griffin, 28, dying after a struggle, shot himself with a borrowed .22 rifle in Clarksville, Arkansas. Relatives and friends pleaded for surrender as Griffin stated it would be the last thing he would do for his mother. He had retrieved a letter from the mailbox then went to Everett Pitts' home where the rifle was borrowed. Pitts alerted Griffin’s relatives when the weapon remained unreturned.

Bank Bandits Strike Liston Indiana in Bold Overnight Heist
Two auto loads of bandits terrorized Liston Indiana early this morning blasting the State Bank with nitro glycerin. They seized more than 2000 dollars in cash and negotiable securities totaling over 1800 while shells from shotguns and pistols littered the business district. Bank president Marion Bailey 72 fought a bandit in front of the bank as the robbers used a double time lock and blew open the safe doors and a back wall. The gang fled after grabbing money and tools from railroad sheds and entering through a rear window.
