Warren Siller, charged with killing Damon Johnson, faced trial and was found guilty of manslaughter the next day. The Johnson relatives hired special counsel, a notable move for Caldwell parish. The courtroom was packed with white and black spectators. Stanley Jefferson, accused of killing Albert Gibson, began his trial as Columbia faced flooding. the dispute began at a cold drink stand where a game over heads or tails led to the confrontation.
Gibson left the house then returned the next night to argue with Stanley Jefferson. The dispute escalated and Gibson was killed on the spot according to the report.
