Former Monroe Man's Wife Fatally Hurt
Mrs. Paula Johnson Severance of Albuquerque, wife of F Leroy Severance Jr formerly of Monroe, was killed in a Thursday Albuquerque auto crash while en route to an Indian school. Wife To Pinch Hit For Jailed Sheriff In Georgia
Trenton Georgia October 12. Sheriff John Lynch plans to stay in office by appointing his wife as chief deputy while he serves a one year federal term. Lynch 39 aims to run again for a second four year term next spring. His term ends December 31 1952 and a March primary is scheduled. Lynch convicted of depriving seven Negroes of civil rights on April 2 1949 will leave soon for an undisclosed prison. His wife 35 has been sworn in to carry on duties. The victims were held by Lynch and a deputy and flogged by masked men.
