A white moonlike object with a blue pulsing tail reportedly crashed 20 to 30 miles east of Vernal Utah before sunrise. Reports came from Denver Texas and South Dakota with speculation it may be part of a rocket or satellite. Allen Hynek doubted any link to the satellite rockets.

In Angola Louisiana D C Bailey, a 23 year old farmhand, faces execution for the December 27 1955 holdup slayings of Jesse Nelson and E C Montgomery in Madison Parish.
