A large cotton compress in Leachville Arkansas burned last night with about 900000 dollars of cotton lost. 1000 bales were destroyed and 15000 bales saved. Two workers Jim Taylor and Bill Joe Young were smoke injured. Fire crews from six towns aided the response.

Fort Worth in a murder tale Frank Cates a 61 year old gambler was shot to death on a lonely road near Watauga by a gunman believed to be someone he trusted. Investigators said he had just left home around 7 30 pm and porch bands from a prior bombing lingered as he met his killer in the dark near a shed.
