At the American Federation of Labor convention in Portland the radicals were routed as William Dunne of Butte was unseated for communist activities by a 27 888 to 180 vote. Epps Jitney Driver Acquitted in Federal Tax Case
Thomas E. Lusk of Epps, a jitney driver, was acquitted in federal court on charges of operating a service car without paying the internal revenue tax. IRS officer Cousins testified Lusk signed papers acknowledging operation and attempted to pay the tax but did not respond to further demands. Lusk claimed he bought an automobile months earlier and that he intended to pay the tax. the government sought a $9 tax with a $1,000 potential penalty.

Bookkeeper M. F. Bock faces Volstead Act charges in federal court with possessing and selling a pint of whiskey. Prohibition agent L. S.
