Two Women Die in North Dakota Snowstorm
Two women, Mrs. H. H. Walker of Helena Montana and Mrs. E. J. Fontaine of Dunque Iowa, were killed when their car collided with a truck near Dickinson during a North Dakota storm. The blizzard dumped four to seven inches, disrupting highway travel and grounding commercial airliners. The storm was expected to continue a day as railroads and buses operated with minor delays.

Crash kills seven more boys in Dutch school fire
In Apeldoorn on October 8 a Dutch naval Firefly crashed into a school gymnasium, igniting a blaze that killed seven more students, bringing total fatalities to 19. Seven other boys remain hospitalized with burns, and pilot Max Chistern, 21, also died in the crash alongside his mother who collapsed from heart trouble watching nearby.

Dead toddler found in mud near Secaucus farm
The body of two year old Douglas Koenemund was found submerged in mud at a pond edge on the Super Stock Farm in Secaucus New Jersey. Police theorize detonations surfaced the body from the pool bottom after a three day search by 500 rescuers aided by four seaplanes and searchlights at night.
