Dr John H. Mansfeldt, a prominent San Francisco physician, died by poison after his wife Annie Irene Mansfeldt was charged with murdering rival Mrs Vaca Martin. Annie Mansfeldt, in jail, cried of love and loss and was later placed in a psychiatric ward for observation. The case included a statewide manhunt that ended with Mansfeldt’s body found and a continued third-page report.
